Who remembers to look at calendars? I have to put something on the Mac to make sure I'm going to see it.
Yes, there is already software available to do this, but again, if you are like me, you can’t afford an expensive product that you will never use 90% of. Thus, the Notify reminder system, which uses a Control Panel for a user interface and a simple alert window to display messages:
 
Notify will run only in System 6.0 or later. In order to use Notify, it must be placed in the System Folder for System 6.0.x or the Control Panels folder for System 7.x, and then the Mac must be rebooted. If Notify was not in the appropriate folder at startup time, Notify still lets you set up reminders and change settings, but they will not take effect until after reboot.
What’s New in Version 4
If you have used an earlier version of Notify, most of it will seem familiar. But a number of people have requested certain features:
1) “It would be nice if I could schedule a regular event, and then be reminded of it several times as the time approaches.” Notify now allows you to specify a single primary repeat intervals for an alarm, along with up to three repeat interval relative to the primary. See the New Messages chapter.
2) “When the message is on the screen, the front application stops running!” Notify now uses its own alert window instead of a Notification Manager alert, and even the front application is allowed to continue behind it.
3) “It would be helpful if the notification window had a Snooze button like an alarm clock.” Well, as you can see in the above picture, it has one. See the Setting User Preferences chapter for specifying the effect of the Snooze button.
